Yes there is a practice Wednesday morning. Unfortunately there will not be a bus to the practice site. We will be meeting at Elm Creek at 8:45 AM and be done at 11:00 AM.

  1. Just learned about your blog. Perhaps a quick email to the first timers parents about the blog would alevate alot of frustration and confusion. twice this year I have waited outside the school for 30 min to an hour (not the only parent to do so). First time it happened, I frantically search for my skier up and down Hanson blvd, heading to bunker park to search there when I finally got a phone call. More advanced information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  2. I was wondering about when we will receive the results from the meet last thursday? Thanks.

  3. I also would greatly appreciate a bit more clarity and information on when practice will end. My daughter is also first year, and does not have a cell phone of her own and so I can't just call her and ask where she is. Same thing.... I have waited several times for quite awhile outside the school. The blog is great, but it would be nice to have a system of finding out when practice will end another way, since I'm not always by a computor. Thanks.

  4. Two questions, one is if the roster will be updated soon and the second is, is there anyway we can get a general idea of when practices will be held over winter break? This was very short notice and to not have busing, my husband and I both work and it's not like it's that easy and convienent to get to Maple Grove at the drop of a hat. I know you said at the parent meeting it's important to be flexible, but with other family life, the weather and right now the even the holiday chaos to take into consideration, that's not always easy to do. I don't want my child being punished for missing out on practice that popped up with one days notice. I know you are at Winter Camp the 26th through the 29th, but is the intent to have practice the 30th, 31st or 1st? Just need a little time to prepare. First year parent here as well. I can check the blog when at work and time permits, so I do check through out the day, but it doesn't help if these things are posted last minute.

  5. Parents,

Thank you for the feedback. There should be an e-mail coming from our booster club president about the blog.

We are currently waiting for the results from last Thursday. The coach who does the results was having issues and will send them to us as soon as they are done.

I understand the issue with practice ending. Right now is rather frustrating since we often do not know where we will be practicing until the day of. Which leads to us busing to different locations at different distances. Right now there is no easy solution; when we receive more snow that will help a lot. If your child does need to make a call, they can always ask the coaches who can help them with that.

The roster will be updated as soon as I get some time to do so. Each has to be entered individually and takes a little while.

You should not have to worry about your child being punished for missing a short notice practice. However, we would like them to make as many practices as possible. Skiing is a sport that has a direct correlation with how much time put in and how much you get out of the sport.

There will most likely be practice on the 30th-1st. Time & place need to be worked out, but it will most likely happen. Coach Dubay will be gone at US Nationals the 1st-8th, but will make it up for the Mesabi Invitational.

As coaches, we will try our best to update the blog ahead of time, but it can be difficult when we receive last minute notices on where we can practice. Thanks again for your feedback on how we can improve and you are always welcome to send us an e-mail.

  6. Many of the older skiers have cell phones on them so let your kids know not to be shy to ask to borrow it to call home for a ride. On most of these short notice practices with no bus, we meet at the H.S. and carpool, so you could bring your kids there or ask one of the older skiers to pick them up at their house for a ride which is no problem either.
